Extended Deadlines.

CSU schools have extended college application deadlines.

State Colleges

Funded by the state, more affordable than private.

Two main systems in California:

UC (University of California) → more research-focused, offers bachelor’s, master’s, PhDs. (Ex: UC Davis, UC Berkeley, UCLA).

CSU (California State University) → more teaching-focused, offers bachelor’s + master’s, but very few doctoral degrees. (Ex: Sacramento State, Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State).

It’s one of the two big public university systems in California (the other is CSU = California State University).

Private University

A private university is a school that is not funded by the state government.

Instead, it relies on tuition, donations, and endowments (money from alumni or foundations).

Because they don’t get state funding, tuition is usually much higher than public universities.

They often have smaller class sizes, more personalized attention, and sometimes more prestige or stronger alumni networks.

Community College.

Finish your first two years of college at a community college close to home and save money by applying to the California Promise Program for first year college students.
